Amtrak

Mr. and Mrs. Simmers were in an Amtrak train crash in Florida in 2002. Mr. Robert Simmers hurt his back and kidneys in the crash and Mrs. Simmers suffered cuts and bruises. Among 142 people injured in the crash, four people were killed. The National Transportation Safety Board concluded that faulty maintenance on the train tracks contributed to the crash and the elderly Cambria County couple settled out-of-court for $150,000.
