Home Depot reached an environmental deal with the State of Connecticut. Through a routine inspection, the home improvement chain was found to accidentally release hazardous chemicals such as fertilizer and pool chemicals through bags that were breaking and spilling the products. The state DEP has agreed to Home Depot paying a fine of $425,000, contacting manufacturers to develop stronger bags and changing procedures in all its stores nationwide. (Jun-14-06) [ WFSB NEWS ]
