Factory Mutual Insurance Company

In January 2005 a Norfolk Southern train ran into parked rail cars, derailing them and releasing a toxic cloud of chlorine gas. Nine people were killed in the spill, hundreds were hospitalized and thousands were evacuated. Avondale Mills filed a lawsuit against its insurance company to cover personal injury lawsuits related to the train crash. The textile manufacturer has already been paid $115 million by Factory Mutual Insurance Company and is set to receive $100 million more by the end of the week. (May-23-06) [WIS 10 TV]
