Sam's Wine and Spirits

The Illinois Liquor Control Commission filed charges against the liquor store for allegedly extorting money from liquor distributors and operating an illegal marketing firm and warehouse. The state claimed Sam's illegally paid business expenses, including some employee salaries, out of the income Skyline received from distributors. Liquor laws prohibit retailers from having marketing relationships with liquor suppliers. According to the settlement, Sam's Wine and Spirits has agreed to remove all alcohol from a nearby warehouse and pay a $300,000 fine. (May-16-06) [ CHICAGO TRIBUNE ]
