Morgan Stanley & Co.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed federal charges against the investment banking corporation for not turning over thousands of e-mails and engaging in uncooperative actions during investigations of the firm from 2000 to 2005. The lawsuit claimed Morgan Stanley failed to produce documents during investigations of dozens of Wall Street firms by producing misleading stock analysts' reports and improper activities in the initial public offering. Morgan Stanley did not admit or deny wrongdoing, but has agreed to pay a $15 million fine. (May-11-06) [WASHINGTON POST]
