LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION

PepsiCo Inc.

The city of Los Angeles and the state of California filed a lawsuit against the beverage company for allegedly violating Proposition 65 by failing to warn consumers that labels contained lead. Pepsi bottled in Mexico is not supposed to be sold in Southern California as the labels can contain up to 45% lead. Some businesses bring Mexican imported Pepsi to the US because the soda has a different taste that some Latinos prefer. Under the terms of the settlement, PepsiCo has agreed to pay a $1 million civil penalty, will begin phasing out labels containing lead and will remove existing soda bottled in Mexico from shelves in California.
