University of Tennessee

Jessica Smith was an attending student at the university. One November evening in 2002, she was struck with a brick while walking from a parking garage to her residence hall. Smith suffered severe brain damage from the attack and a lawsuit was filed against the school for allegedly failing to provide adequate lighting where the attack occurred.
