Waste Management

In 2002 residents near the 1,216 acre facility complained of foul odors. The New Hampshire State Attorney General and the Department of Environmental Services began an investigation and filed charges against the company for environmental violations and significant exceeding of methane at the Turnkey Landfill. Waste Management did not admit liability, but has agreed to pay $1.75 million in civil penalties for alleged air pollution and permit violations. (Mar-02-06) [UNION LEADER]
