NTP Inc. filed a lawsuit against the maker of BlackBerry e-mail devices regarding a patent dispute. Research In Motion has agreed to pay a $612.5 million settlement to end the four year legal battle. The one-time payment covers all Blackberry business areas including licenses granted to carriers and device makers. Shares of the Ontario based company rose 19% to $85.70. (Mar-03-06) [CBC NEWS]
