Ernest Tusino was elected chief executive officer of Local 170 in Worcester in 1988 but was ousted eight years later for publicly endorsing James Hoffa in the 1996 general election. A court judge found the Teamsters action against Tusino was a purposeful and deliberate attempt to suppress dissent within the union. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit has awarded Tusino a $1.3 million settlement. (Feb-28-06) [METRO WAST DAILY NEWS]
