Amir Hussein

The U.S. Justice Department investigated the cardiologist for allegedly over billing Medicare for the elderly and disabled from 1997 to 2003. Hussein's actions resulted in higher reimbursements from the government than he was entitled to receive. Federal investigators found Hussein billed the medical program for unnecessary services and often billed for the same service more than once. A whistleblower from Mecklenburg County will receive a portion of the $2.6 million settlement money being paid to the U.S. government. (Feb-23-06) [CHARLOTTE OBSERVER]
