Agilent Technologies Inc., the world's biggest maker of scientific testing equipment filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the laboratory instrument manufacturer. The suit was in regards to pump technology used in high performance liquid chromatography instruments. Waters discontinued use of the patented technology in 2002, and this settlement will not affect its ability to sell its Alliance liquid chromatography instruments in the United Kingdom.
