City of Grandview

In November 2004, city police officer Brian Blessing drove his squad car through a red light at an intersection and crashed broadside into a car where 17-year-old Emma Rothbrust was a passenger. Emma suffered from a shattered pelvis, a broken tibia and fibula and two broken ankles. Her lungs, heart, kidney and bladder were punctured, torn and bruised. The city of Grandview has agreed to award Emma a $2.98 million settlement for her critical injuries. (Jan-18-06) [KANSAS CITY STAR]
