Bellevue School District and Newport Heights Elementary School Principal Marian Peiffer

The mother of a 7 year old girl filed a lawsuit against the district claiming boys at Newport Heights began harassing her daughter in 1998. Boys taunted the girl by using abusive language, pinching and grabbing her, pinning her against a wall, and threatening to force another boy to have relations with her at a school sponsored dance. Principal Peiffer refused to meet with the pupils, never punished the boys, and never reported the incident to school district officials as required by law. Bellevue School District has agreed to pay the former elementary pupil a $190,500 settlement. (Nov-11-05) [SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER]
