Oceanport School District

Former student, Ryan Dwyer filed a lawsuit against the school after he was punished for material posted on his "Anti-Maple Place" web site. Maple Place Middle School officials suspended Ryan for a week, removed him from the school baseball team for a month, and barred him from a class trip. The case claimed the district violated his First Amendment rights. Oceanport School District violated Ryan's right to free speech and he has been awarded a $117,500 settlement.
