Balfour Beatty Construction, Massachusetts Electric Construction Company, J.F. White Contracting Company, and Northeast Corridor Foundations

The U.S. Government claimed the engineering and construction companies inflated claims on Amtrak projects to electrify part of the Northeast Corridor. They allegedly overcharged Amtrak for the installation of an overhead system used to deliver electricity to locomotives between New Haven and Boston. Former Balfour Beatty employee Ian Cartwright filed the original lawsuit under the whistleblower provision of the False Claims Act and is set to receive $3.89 million of the total $24.75 million settlement.
