LAWSUITS NEWS & LEGAL INFORMATION

Spokane City and Sarah Wolverton

Courtney Strange was hit in a mid-block crosswalk which the City no longer maintained. Vestiges of crosswalk markings remained and were used by pedestrians to cross this heavily trafficked 8 lane arterial. Drivers including Wolverton could no longer see the markings, and there were no warning signs or other warnings for pedestrians or approaching drivers.

Ms. Strange suffered a head injury from which she recovered; she sustained severe injury to both legs which required 6 surgeries, and continued ongoing rehab some three years later at time of scheduled trial.

H. Douglas Spruance III of the Law office of H. Douglas Spruance III, and co-counsel Robert F. Greer of Feltman, Gebhardt, Greer and Zeimantz settled on behalf of their client Courtney Strange for her injuries sustained in her pedestrian lawsuit against the City and driver Sarah Wolverton. The settlement totaled $540,000.00, plus $20,000.00 PIP lien waiver ($490,000.00 from City and its carrier, USF&G, and $50,000.00 plus $20,000.00 lien waiver from driver's carrier, Travelers.)
