Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield

The Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati and approximately 1,900 physicians filed a lawsuit against the insurance providers for allegedly colluding to keep payments artificially low. The suit claimed the providers violated state antitrust laws in Ohio and Kentucky by conspiring to keep Cincinnati's physician reimbursement rates below those of comparable cities. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have agreed to pay Cincinnati area doctors an additional $160 million for services over the next three years. (Oct-04-05) [AKRON BEACON JOURNAL]
