Approximately 300 consumers filed complaints with Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office accusing AOL of ignoring demands to discontinue Internet service and cancel billing. The Attorney General launched an investigation against the company for rewarding employees for retaining subscribers who tried to cancel their Internet service. AOL has agreed to pay $1.25 million in penalties and will reform its customer service practices. (Aug-25-05) [BOSTON HERALD]
