Four people were killed in a fiery crash involving a flatbed truck and two cars on the H-1 freeway at 3 o'clock in the morning on February 13th, 2004. A speeding car struck a Safety Systems truck and they both burst into flames. A second car crashed into the wreckage and was engulfed in flames. Both car drivers and a car passenger were killed in the accident. Truck passenger, Mariano Salangdron Sr. was working for Safety Systems at the time; he was also killed in the crash. The Salangdron family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Mariano's employer and was awarded a $2 million settlement. (Aug-27-05) [HONOLULU ADVERTISER]
