Douglas County Public Utility District

The Colville Confederated Tribes have received a $13.5 million settlement payment as compensation for lands flooded by the utility's Wells Dam. There are currently 9,100 members in the tribes and if the settlement was divided equally, each person would receive $1,400. The tribe also was given 460 acres near the dam in exchange for dropping other land claims. (Jul-07-05) [SEATTLE PI]
