Illegal Firework Assemblers

Husband and father of three, Raymond Reilly, was killed on the Fourth of July last year from a fireworks accident. Father and son Haenelts, along with Formella and Brown, were making illegal fireworks at the home of Farrer. The group was disassembling fireworks and using the gunpowder to build a bigger device from a metal cylinder. When the bigger device exploded, a piece of metal flew across the street and struck Reilly, piercing his heart. The two Haenelts and Formella pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter in the death and were sentenced to county jail. Brown pleaded no contest to possession of illegal fireworks. Mary Reilly and her three children will receive a $1.1 million settlement in an annuity for the wrongful death their family member. (Jun-27-05) [KGET NEWS]
