Miami County

Investigators accused Richard Gilroy of writing bad checks. He could not afford the $3,000 cash required on his $30,000 bond, so he sat in jail until he got to tell his story to a Municipal Court Judge nine days later. Gilroy was not the man wanted for forgery because he was incarcerated in Tennessee at the time. Miami County officials have agreed to pay a $2,500 settlement for wrongful accusations.
