The computer company has agreed to a $28.6 million settlement to be split among eight states who alleged antitrust violations. The lawsuit claimed Microsoft tried to monopolize the marketplace. The state of Iowa will use $1.7 million collected from an antitrust case to assist law enforcement by upgrading DNA evidence capabilities and purchasing more than three dozen Iowa State Patrol vehicles.
