John Maxwell spent 25 years working for the vacuum maker, which is now known as Electrolux Home Products. In 2001, Maxwell died from laryngeal cancer and leukemia. His family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his former employer alleging Eureka concealed dangerous working conditions, health risks, and chemical exposure. A McLean County Circuit Judge awarded the widow a $3.25 million settlement. (May-11-05)
