AMD

The computer chip maker has settled with Intergraph over a patent infringement lawsuit. AMD is to pay $10 million to Intergraph as well as royalties over three years, which will be capped at $25 million. In return for the settlement, Intergraph will drop all claims of infringement it has against customers who use AMD powered computers. As well as AMD, Intergraph has set lawsuits against Intel, Dell, Hewlett-Packard and Gateway. All of these claims stem from Intergraph's patents acquired during development of its "Clipper" technology, which all relate to computer memory management. Intergraph settled its lawsuit with Intel for $300 million, and has pending cases with two of the others. AMD's settlement was made "for our customers", according to spokesperson Drew Prairie.
