The state, as well as many other states and the District of Columbia, have settled an anti-trust lawsuit with 6 overseas suppliers and makers of vitamins. The companies, F. Hoffman-LaRoche, based in Switzerland, BASF, based in Germany, Aventis, based in France and Takeda Chemical Industries Ltd., Eisai Co. Ltd., and Daiichi Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd., all of which are based in Japan, were accused of fixing the prices of their products. The companies have agreed to pay a total of $335 million to the 21 states and the District of Columbia. Wisconsin, which was the lead state in the case, will receive $6.6 million of the settlement, and a fund has been set up to handle claims by small businesses affected by the price rigging in many of the states.
