Over the last five years Merry Stephens had been honored with Coach of the Year three times and Teacher of the Year just last year. Stephens was head coach of the Lady Wildcats basketball team and had a year and a half left on her contract when her employment was terminated. In a lawsuit filed against the school she claimed her termination was related to her orientation. The district has agreed to pay Stephens the full value of her two-year contract in this wrongful termination settlement. (Apr-05-05) [365 GAY]
