This is a settlement for the Civil / Human Rights lawsuit.

Pierce County filed a lawsuit against the state for prematurely discharging mentally ill patients. The case alleged patients at Western State Hospital were forced to leave in violation their constitutional rights to mental-health care and that Pierce County was has to pay for patient services that were the state's responsibility. Washington state officials have agreed to pay the county $2.5 million. (Mar-16-05) [SEATTLE WEEKLY]
