Diocese of Paterson

Twenty six men who claimed to have been molested as boys by Roman Catholic priests have won a lawsuit against the Diocese of Paterson. Between 1968 and 1982 the men alleged sexual abuse by Priest James T. Hanley. Multiple claims arose but the church failed to protect the youth at that time and did not remove the defendant until 17 years later. The men will receive 4 years of counseling and $5 million in this clergy sex abuse case. (Feb-16-05)
