American International Group

Following a securities fraud investigation, American International Group settled with US regulators by paying out $126 million. AIG will pay $80 million to the US Department of Justice and $46 million to the Securities & Exchange Commission. Both agencies claimed that AIG had helped clients illegally boost profits by selling insurance products that shifted losses off of client balance sheets. (Nov-25-04) [TELGRAPH]
