Knoxville Utilities Board

The Knoxville Utilities Board reached a $2.3 million settlement with federal and state regulators and environmentalists over the city's overflowing sewer system. K-U-B was sued after a string of severe overflows dating to 2002. Just less than six million gallons of sewage spilled from K-U-B manholes in various Knoxville neighborhoods in February 2003. The US Environmental Protection Agency and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will receive $167,000 from K-U-B. [VOLUNTEER TV]
