Cookeville Police

The city of Cookeville will pay a family $77,000 as a part of a settlement for their dog that was shot by local police. In 2002, police pulled a car over, handcuffed it occupants and wrongly targeted the family as thieves. The Smoak family dog got out of the car and was shot by one of the police officers.
