J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup.

A $236 million settlement has been reached between the Securities and Exchange Commission and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup, the nation's two largest banks. The Commission charged the banks with helping Enron Corp. to hide debts and defraud investors. In addition, the banks have agreed to pay New York City and New York state $50 million to settle similar charges from the Manhattan District Attorney. (Jul-29-03)
