Florida Department of Citrus.

A $3.5 million dollar settlement has been reached between the Florida Department of Citrus and the five Florida citrus processors who opposed a state tax on imported orange juice. The settlement will be distributed in the form of cash and tax credits, and will give the plaintiffs the choice of opting out of paying up to two-thirds of the tax on future imports. In addition, the suit will end a proposed $800,000 in back taxes for 22 Florida processors. (June-03-03)
