Ebay Inc.

Ebay has been ordered by a jury to pay $35 million dollars to MercExchange in regards to a patent infringement lawsuit. MercExchange alleged that eBay and its Half.com unit infringed on their innovations for conducting fixed-price sales over the Internet. Ebay has contested the accusations, saying that it uses its own innovations, and the company plans to ask the judge in the case to overturn the ruling. (May-28-03) [NEW YORK TIMES]
