Iraq

A $104 million dollar verdict has been awarded by a New York City judge to the families of two men who were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. The suit was filed against the country of Iraq on behalf of the families, and it is the first time that a court has laid blame with the country for the attacks. At this time, it is unclear if the defendants will be able to collect the funds from Iraq. Other defendants listed in the suit were al-Qaeda, bin Laden, the Taliban and the former government of Afghanistan. (May-08-03)
