U.S. Steel

has agreed to settle a $250 million dollar verdict against them for less than $50 milion dollars. The suit was filed by Roby Whittington, a former employee of the company who alleged that his mesothelioma was caused by the asbestos he was exposed to from working at the plant for more than 31 years. The verdict is the largest on record for a single plaintiff in relations to asbestos damages. (Mar-31-03)
