Texas Woman's Zimmer Knee Didn't Last One Year

Sherman, TXA disgruntled recipient of a Zimmer Knee Replacement has filed a NexGen lawsuit against the manufacturers of a prosthetic knee that proved problematic and ultimately failed the plaintiff. Laquetta Dukes accuses Zimmer of misleading both her and her health care provider regarding the safety of Zimmer NexGen Knee.

According to the Southeast Texas Record (2/6/12), Dukes received her Zimmer Knee Replacement on the 14th of July 2009. However, according to the plaintiff's lawsuit, the knee replacement system loosened and required revision surgery just under seven months later.

Dukes, who hails from Bonham, underwent a second surgery on February 4, 2010.

Dukes filed her NexGen lawsuit February 3 of this year in the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division and names Zimmer Inc., Zimmer Holdings Inc., Wilson/Phillips Holdings Inc. (also known as Zimmer Wilson Phillips), and Zimmer Orthopaedic Surgical Products Inc. as defendants.

The NexGen lawsuit alleges that defendants knew about the propensity for the device to loosen, causing injury, pain and loss of movement. The defendants are further accused of negligence, strict product liability, products liability, and breach of express and implied liabilities with the development, design, manufacture, distribution and selling of the Zimmer NexGen total knee replacement system, including the Zimmer NexGen LPS-Flex Gender Solutions femoral component.

Dukes is seeking compensation for medical expenses, lost income and economic loss, debilitating injury, permanent instability and loss of balance, immobility, pain and suffering, special damages, triple damages, attorney's fees, and interest and court costs.

The Zimmer NexGen knee plaintiff is requesting a trial by jury.
