Lawsuits Allege Plaintiffs Harmed by Stryker ShapeMatch

New Orleans, LA Stryker ShapeMatch lawsuits have been filed against Howmedica Osteonics Corp (doing business as Stryker Orthopaedics), alleging patients were harmed by the use of the ShapeMatch Cutting Guide. The plaintiffs allege that issues with the ShapeMatch Cutting Guide, used with the Stryker Triathlon knee implant, resulted in knee implant failure.

ShapeMatch Cutting Guide Lawsuit(s) a Non-Issue in Stryker’s Q4

Kalamazoo, MI When Stryker did an about-face on its troubled ShapeMatch Cutting Guide in November 2012 after only 18 months, the medical device company said at the time that patients who had undergone knee replacement utilizing the recalled guides would not require follow-up “beyond the routine standard of care.” However, plaintiffs having filed a ShapeMatch Cutting Guide lawsuit, beg to disagree with that statement.

Stryker ShapeMatch Lawsuit Survives Motion to Dismiss

Lafayette, LA A Stryker ShapeMatch lawsuit has survived a motion to dismiss by the defendants, although the plaintiff has been told she must amend her complaint. The ShapeMatch Cutting Guide lawsuit alleged the plaintiff was harmed by the use of the cutting guide, which was recalled since her surgery.

Washington, DC The push in recent years toward innovation in surgical techniques that result in increasingly smaller incisions and faster closures of those incisions are thought to increase benefit to the patient by way of fewer complications and faster healing. However, for some patients, the opposite is true, and the recall of the Stryker ShapeMatch Cutting Guide system and corresponding ShapeMatch Cutting Guide lawsuits speak volumes about the tendency for best-laid plans to become derailed by poor execution.

Newark, NJ As Stryker settles four of its hip replacement lawsuits, concerns have been raised about the Stryker Triathlon knee implant, and knee replacement lawsuits have reportedly been filed alleging problems with the ShapeMatch Cutting Guide, used along with the Triathlon knee implant.

Michael Hingle & Associates, LLC Files Lawsuit Against Makers of ShapeMatch Cutting Guide, Stryker Orthopaedics

New Orleans, LA (Press Release) In August 2013, Michael Hingle & Associates, LLC filed one of the nation’s first lawsuits against the manufacturers of the ShapeMatch Cutting Guide. The complaint alleges that the ShapeMatch Cutting Guide that was used to position a total knee replacement in Plaintiff’s body misaligned causing the knee replacement to be implanted in the wrong position.
