Insurance Agent Receives Two-Year Sentence after Stock Fraud Conviction

. By
Overland Park, KSOne of the largest cases of stock fraud in the history of the Sunflower State drew to a close when an East Kansas insurance agent was sentenced to two years of probation for running a securities scam in 2006.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">In October Danny M. Moore of Overland Park was convicted of one felony count of securities fraud by the Johnson County District Court. The conviction stems from a 2006 incident in which Moore solicited a local resident for an increased investment in school bonds that did not, in fact, exist. Moore defrauded investors of more than $20,000, which he then used for his own personal expenses.

Charges also claimed that the insurance agent failed to disclose prior disciplinary orders received from the Securities Commissioner's Office and the Kansas Insurance Department to prospective investors.

On December 21 Moore was sentenced to 12 months in prison for his crimes, though the District Court recently reduced his sentence to 24 months of supervised probation and 240 hours of community service.
