Salt Lake City, UT In 2016, the Utah legislature amended existing medical malpractice law to permit people who are not patients to sue a medical practitioner for medical negligence – but only in some circumstances. The amended law appears to codify the Utah Supreme Court’s 2012 decision in B.R. v. West, a particularly gruesome murder case.

A recent Supreme Court decision involving a lawsuit brought against Arrow Financial Services LLC over alleged nuisance phone calls has put other similar businesses and telemarketers on notice. The high court’s decision effectively allows people who are annoyed by nuisance phone calls to sue in state and federal courts.

Washington, DC WorldVariety Produce, Inc. of Los Angeles, CA is recalling Serrano Peppers, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Salt Lake City, UT Three Japanese tourists are dead after the driver of the tour bus they were riding in lost control of the vehicle. A further 11 others were injured. The bus accident happened on Monday evening just outside Cedar City, the Utah Highway Patrol report.
