Meningitis Outbreak – Potential Lawsuit?

Fenton, MI Since Tim found out he was given two steroid injections that have been linked to fungal meningitis his pain has escalated. His doctor refuses to give him spinal injections until they are certain that the Rare Meningitis Outbreak Steroid Injections he already received are dormant. “The CDC said it would take a month, then two months, and now it is months later,” says Tim.

Meningitis Outbreak Far From Over

Edina, MN Gary considers himself fortunate: he was given a steroid shot at an Edina pain clinic where four patients have shown symptoms of a rare fungal meningitis that has caused 37 deaths. But Gary isn’t out of the woods yet: Even though the risk period for the meningitis outbreak is over, new cases are still being reported.

“Do I Have Steroid Meningitis Lawsuit?” Asks Victim

Draper, VA Richard was diagnosed with aseptic meningitis just days after he was given an epidural injection during an appendectomy. “I later asked my neurologist if this kind of meningitis was the same as the steroid meningitis outbreak and could I have gotten it from the pain injection,” says Richard. “She said, ‘Probably’”.

More Cases of Rare Meningitis, FDA Finds Contamination

Boston, MA Six more people have been sickened by the rare outbreak of meningitis, which has claimed 25 lives. To date, the number of fungal meningitis cases total 337 in 18 states—as of Sunday, South Carolina was also affected by the outbreak.

Pharmacy Owners Sued for Meningitis Outbreak

Boston, MA Pharmacy owners allegedly responsible for steroid shots linked to the deadly meningitis outbreak have been sued in an attempt to freeze the assets of NECC and personal assets of the named officers. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of unnamed plaintiff (named “John Doe”) in Middlesex County Superior Court in Boston, according to Reuters (Oct 19, 2012).

CDC, FDA Confirm Presence of Meningitis Fungus at NECC Pharmacy

Framingham, MA According to federal investigators, more evidence has been found linking the meningitis fungus and the New England Compounding Center, the pharmacy at the center of the deadly, multi-state meningitis outbreak.

Meningitis Infections and Death Toll Climb as Feds Raid NECC Plant

Atlanta, GA The number of people infected with fungal meningitis resulting from tainted steroid medication has risen to 247, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The death toll has also climbed to 19, with 15 states out of 23 that received shipments of the preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate reporting illness.

Meningitis Death Toll Climbs as More NECC Drugs Implicated

Atlanta, GA The multi-state fungal meningitis outbreak continues to spread, with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) now stating that 214 cases have been reported in 15 states, and the death toll has reached 15.

Fungal Meningitis Death Toll Rises—Class Action Lawsuit Filed

Boston, MA The number of deaths from the fungal meningitis outbreak has risen to 15 as of October 13 and health officials report 198 people infected in 13 states.

Pharmacy at Center of Fungal Meningitis Outbreak Violated its Licence

Boston, MA As concern grows over the multi-state fungal meningitis outbreak, and with the death toll mounting, it now appears that the compounding pharmacy that produced the steroid injection thought to be the cause of the outbreak is in violation of its state licence requirements.
