Two Plane Collision in Mid-Air

Boulder, COThree people were killed in a mid-air plane crash February 6th. One of the planes, a single-seat Piper Pawnee, was towing a glider. The pilot of the Piper was killed. The other plane, a Cirrus SR 20, carried two people.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">Miraculously, the pilot of the glider was able to detach the craft from the plane and land safely after the collision. Some eyewitnesses captured the plane crash on video and reported they saw flames in the air in an area less than five miles from the Boulder Municipal Airport.

Rick Brough of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said the debris field was spread out over a couple of miles, as reported by CNN. Brough said The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are involved in investigating the incident.
