More Bodies and Helicopter Fuselage Found in River

. By
New York, NYNYPD divers found two more bodies buried in the plane and helicopter crash wreckage Sunday morning. The Police divers have recovered five bodies from the fuselage of a tourist helicopter in the Hudson River mid-air collision and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers crane has now removed the Liberty Helicopter that collided with a low-flying airplane on Saturday.

Crash VictimA total of nine people—three were in the private plane and six in the helicopter—are presumed dead. The New York Daily News reported that divers have been troubled by river's strong currents and poor visibility in their search for victims. And they have yet to find the airplane in the river.

Officials said the plane's right wing clipped the back of the helicopter as the two aircraft were flying in the same direction. Both aircraft split apart and fell into the river about 100 metres from the shore of Hoboken, N.J.

The five Italian tourists aboard the helicopter were in New York for a weeklong vacation to celebrate the 25-year marriage of Michele Norelli and his wife, Silvia Rigamonti. The New York Times said another son, Davide Norelli, stayed behind in Italy. He told the Times that his mother decided not to take the helicopter ride because "she was afraid."
