Philadelphia, PA By August 15, 2014, court records show that 1,162 Lipitor claims have been filed against Pfizer Inc., the manufacturer of the “best-selling prescription drug of all time.” The Lipitor lawsuits filed by plaintiffs who developed Type 2 diabetes allege that Pfizer failed to adequately warn patients and their doctors about the cholesterol medication’s association with diabetes and other risks associated with Lipitor.

Charleston, SCLipitor lawsuits, which allege patients who took the drug suffered serious side effects, are reportedly mounting. Plaintiffs claim Pfizer, maker of Lipitor, knew about the risks of serious side effects but did not offer adequate warnings about the risks, including a reported increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Baton Rouge, LA A woman from Louisiana finds herself as the plaintiff in a Lipitor lawsuit, claiming that the Lipitor she was prescribed for over 10 years to help control her cholesterol levels triggered atorvastatin Type 2 diabetes. Had she known about the diabetes risk, she would have avoided use of Lipitor altogether, or at the very least undertaken the regular monitoring of her blood glucose levels.

New York, NY A multidistrict litigation (MDL) has been approved for the initial Lipitor (atorvastatin) lawsuits filed against the drug’s manufacturer Pfizer, Inc. The Lipitor diabetes lawsuits allege that Pfizer has failed to adequately warn consumers of the risk for developing diabetes associated with the drug. In 2012 Pfizer updated the Lipitor labeling to include warnings of increased risk for diabetes, however, the lawsuits contend that this was insufficient.
