Avoiding Hidden Charges Including the Safe Warranty Fee

Anaheim, CA: Hidden charges, such as "safe warranty fees," room services, and phone charges added to hotel bills can cause the price of a room to skyrocket overnight. Guests who stayed at CHOICE Hotels, which operates Comfort Inns, Clarion, and Econo Lodge are investigating potential lawsuits against the company alleging they were unfairly charged "safe warranty fees" without being informed of the charge prior to being billed.

- Reservation processing fee -- At least one hotel charged a consumer $4.91 cents for making a reservation and did not tell the customer until she checked out.

Los Angeles, CA Lawyers are investigating a possible class action lawsuit against hotel chains that routinely overcharge their customers for services such as in-room safes, mini-bars, and resort amenities, even if customers do not use them. In many cases, customers are not informed of these extra hotel billing charges when they reserve their rooms and only learn of them when they receive their bills.

Hotels Face Lawsuits Over Billing Practices

Orlando, FL: Customers are expected to pay an estimated $1.75 billion this year in "automatic" hotel fees and surcharges, including the "safe warranty fee." However, some of these hotel billing practices are illegal and lawsuits are now being filed challenging hotels for not disclosing their automatic fees until guests check out.
