Second Helicopter Crash Victim Identified in Georgia Accident

. By
Jupiter, FLA helicopter crash that took two lives on or about August 2nd continues to foster mystery even after the second individual killed in the helicopter accident was identified. Shelley Zapototsky, a registered nurse, was identified by authorities in Georgia as the second victim of last week's crash of a 2006 R44 Robinson helicopter owned and piloted by Adam Reeves.

As reported in the August 11th edition of the Palm Beach Post, Reeves owned Zulu Heli Operations, a health care and realty enterprise that he operated from his home in Jupiter, Florida. Zapototsky, a registered nurse from Palm Beach, worked with Zulu.

According to reports, the pair took off from Palm Beach County on August 2nd bound for a resort and spa in northern Georgia—but the two never made it to their destination. Following a three-day search, authorities found the helicopter in the woods in Lumpkin County. The bodies of Reeves and Zapototsky were also discovered, although authorities did not reveal if the helicopter crash victims were found inside the wreckage, or elsewhere.

The nature of the excursion was not known. Reeves was married. A statement released by the family following the discovery described Reeves as "a wonderful father, brother, son and friend [who] will be truly missed by all."

The pilot of the doomed helicopter had not been a pilot for long, securing his pilot's license in September of last year. Meanwhile the aircraft involved in the helicopter accident was owned by Zulu Heli, a company controlled by Reeves and run from Jupiter but based in Delaware. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Department are investigating the helicopter crash.
