Georgia Man Dies in Gas Can Explosion

Dodge County, GAA Milan, Georgia man died recently after a gas can explosion occurred in his shop just outside the town of Rhine on Will Reeves Road, the Macon Telegraph reports.

span itemprop="image" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ImageObject" style="display:block">According to the news provider, Dodge County sheriff's captain Tony Winborn said that a coroner identified the lone victim as the owner of the shop, 66-year-old Charles Campbell. The incident occurred after a propane tank in the shop began to leak and ultimately exploded, the news source said.

Winborn explained that sheriff's deputies and the Rhine Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call about an explosion at the shop and it took approximately 15 minutes to put out the fire caused by the gas explosion, reports the news source.

Campbell died instantly in the explosion, Winborn added.

Investigators with the state and Dodge County are reportedly still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the gas explosion, according to the news provider.

Local NBC affiliate WMGT reports that officials believe that the death was accidental.
