Center Utilizing Pain Pumps Opens in North Carolina

. By
Hendersonville, NCPardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina, is planning to open up the Pardee Pain Center in September to help patients deal with pain using a variety of techniques, including pain pumps.

According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, the pain center will provide comprehensive pain management to patients.

The Pardee Pain Center will accomplish its goal through a number of techniques, including X-ray-guided diagnostic and therapeutic injections, minimally invasive disc decompression procedures, diagnostic therapy and spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pain pumps, both of which will be implanted surgically, reports the news source.

The center will be open on Thursdays and Fridays during normal business hours and will be located on the ground floor of the Pardee Hospital.

Shoulder pain pumps are implanted in the body and are intended to release pain medication directly to the affected area. On occasion the use of such pumps leads to a condition known as postarthroscopic glenohumeral chondrolysis (PAGCL), which is the progressive loss cartilage in the joint that connects the arm to the shoulder.
